Yesterday Beowulf was 10 weeks, 1 day old, the age Kazan was when we adopted him! Beowulf weighed 19 pounds yesterday, twice 10-week-old Kazan's size! Beowulf also has ATTITUDE, while Kazan is a goofy bull-moose - guess who's already alpha dog in our house!

But Kazan and Beowulf are also brothers and kindred spirits. They play in the same crazy leonberger way, wrestling and tumbling and chasing and gnawing on each other. They both vocalize like twin Chewbaccas talking to each other! And when they are particularly happy and excited, they both "woo-woo-woo" in the same wonderfully endearing way!!!

It is particularly adorable to see how closely and happily Beowulf follows Kazan when we go on walks, stopping and paying attention to whatever sights, sounds and smells interest Kazan.

Kazan has always LOVED putting his head into the snow. Beowulf learned that from him very early on, and often likes to put his head in the same hole with Kazan.

Here's Kazan the day we got him, such a sweet little boy. And now he's a big brother, and doing a really great job at it! We've had Beowulf for three weeks today, and he has changed us from being a home with a faithful dog lying in the corner, to a home centered in these two beautiful, happy, challenging, entertaining, lovely creatures.

Yay for siblings! I love that photo of the boys sticking their heads in the snow; what a cute habit Kazan developed and how sweet that Beowulf would imitate it!
