No, we didn't go to Asia! Nantes (France) is a beautiful city, and this little oriental-style island garden is one of its many charms.

Other charms include cobblestone streets lined with outdoor terraces, and the opportunity to discover new European beers. Ron loved this one.

Ron and I have two favourite restaurants in Nantes. We went twice to my favourite crepe restaurant, and once to the historic and luxurious La Cigale.

While Ron meets with colleagues and students to teach classes and discuss stuff related to encapsulation, I love to take solitary meditative walks. One of my destinations is a beautiful cemetery near our residence. I was moved by this epitaph: For Jacques, in the search for his tree of life.

Good-bye, Nantes. We love the city, viewed here from the walls of its castle, home to the Dukes of Bretagne. Nantes is like a second home to us. But as we left, we wondered if this might possibly have been our last visit.

It looks beautiful. Who knows, maybe someday we'll travel there together.
