In the evening the conference organizers hosted a VERY special dinner in a dining hall right next to the castle in Aigle. We were entertained by a terrific group of three medieval musicians. This is one of the period instruments they used. Another contest for you - what is this instrument called? I was so pleased to hear what it is and what it sounds like, because I’ve seen it mentioned in literature, but had no idea what it was until now!

Could it be a "Hurdy-Gurdie"....What do I win!
Cara
It's a cross between a player piano and a mandolin so I'll call it a player mandolin
Gord
I'd call it an "I could play that but I just don't want to"
Cara wins! I'm in Dad's office again today, so I can finally announce the winner. And actually, I had the name slightly wrong in my head (I thought it was called a hurley-gurley), so I appreciate the correction! Now I won't make a fool of myself!
