happy birthday, Cara!

Here are some flowers from our garden for you, Cara! These lovely blossoms are courtesy of our neighbour. When he noticed me working in my garden one day this spring, he offered to share some of his abundant perennials with us. Little did I realize that this would mean that he would actually show up one day while we were away from home - not only did he turn the soil and plant the perennials, but he also left an envelope at our front door, containing four pages of handwritten information and instructions about each and every plant (17 varieties)! A few weeks later, we came home to another surprise - he had purchased some annuals for us and planted those in the empty spaces between the baby perennials! What a model of the abundance of blessing that God wants to pour into our lives, and that we are asked to pour into the lives of others: "A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over" (Luke 6:38)!
