freedom eve

After many years of heavy administrative responsibilities (Associate Dean at McGill, then Department Head at Queen's), Ron finally arrives at the eve of freedom! Here we are at a surprise celebration of the occasion at the end of June. Thanks to the clever machinations of Ron's colleagues, he only partially suspected something might be up (contrary to what some suspect, he did not prepare his speech ahead of time), and he had no idea that the whole family (including myself) were in on the plot! I am deeply grateful that the family were invited to be there for this recognition of Ron's hard work, personal dedication, and significant achievements. From left to right around the table, these are: Sharon, Meghan, Aaron, pAl, Ron, Franceen, Brook (Al's daughter), Caitlin. Oh, and in case there is any confusion, Ron is on a 6-month leave to do research (not on a 6-month holiday), and he will continue on as professor at Queen's (not retired yet)! See you all again in 10 years time?

Nice freedom! Did anyone tell Ron it wasn't a vacation?

Look at you and Meghan in this picture- it looks like mirror images with the smile and the hair and all.

If I could look half as good as my mom when I am as young as she is!...
