land of colour and change
waves of the tideA last sunset in Porto; a few days in Coimbra; overnight in Porto; overnight in Paris. Home.
suddenlyWe walked down onto the rocks by the ocean, and as we poked around and continued to photograph the stunning sunset and rhythmic waves, it began to dawn on us that with each wave, the tide was suddenly and very rapidly advancing on us. So we scrambled up on shore again in a hurry! Much like what is happening in our lives right now - after our long and for the most part unhurried European adventure, the end is suddenly approaching so quickly that we are finding ourselves somewhat overwhelmed by the pace of these last few days!
all good things must come to an endWhen Ron’s duties were over for the day, we walked together along the river to the sea. Here’s the lighthouse again, caught in a glorious moment, as the day - and our time in Porto - were both coming to an end.
good-bye PortoPorto is known for its many homes and churches covered in colourful ceramic tiles. This one is particularly beautiful. Our weekend in the country came to an end, Ron went back to work, and I took advantage of a gorgeous sunny Monday to go for a last solitary walk in downtown Porto.
a dying art? They say that the Portuguese art of creating intricately-patterned stone walkways (even sidewalks!) may be dying. I hope not!
